Welcome to YOGA!
Infinite Light Yoga Ground Rules
All Are Welcome!
EVERYONE is welcome in YOGA class. Anyone can practice YOGA from a bed-ridden student to the athlete. There are many modifications available for each pose and there are many YOGA healing modalities one can engage in. I strive to make YOGA accessible to all who wish to practice it.
We all bring unique abilities, qualities, body shapes and varying degrees of strength and flexibility to the mat. Let's celebrate that wonderful diversity! I welcome and honor each and every student!
No Side Talk During Class
Students are here to relax, to become present in the moment through observing the breath and the physical sensations of practicing YOGA. Side talk is counter productive to this process.
YOGA Should Not Hurt
Please listen to and honor your own body during class. While it is desirable to ride your breath to the edge of your abilities, you should not be in pain. If there is any pain in any part of your body, please come out of the pose as gently as possible and relax on your mat.
Do Not Look At Your Neighbor During Class
Yoga is not a competition. How far someone else can stretch into a pose is of no relevance to you. Comparing yourself to others fosters judgment rather than acceptance. Accept yourself in the Now and work with your unique body and abilities.
Do Not Compete With Yourself
Yoga is not a competition – not even with yourself. Your practice will vary from class to class. Bring yourself to the mat as you are right now and simply observe without judgment or comparison to your own practice on another day. Yoga is not about "cranking" your body into a certain pose, but to inquire deep within yourself what your body needs today, and that honoring that.
Please Communicate Any Special Needs/Medical Conditions
Before attending your first class with me, please let me know about any medical conditions or special needs you may have.
Thank You. Namaste.

"A person's perfect weight cannot be sized up by the eye or measured by a scale. Everyone has an ideal weight that is unique to their constitutional nature. Because your ideal weight is unique, it can't be compared with your sister's , your neighbor's, or your friend's, or your own five years ago. Your ideal weight is affected by your age, the season, the climate, and, if you're a woman, your menstrual stage. The right weight has nothing to do with numbers. Instead, it's a reflection of feeling and being truly healthy - being comfortable and stable in mind and body, experiencing normal bodily functions, and having the strength and endurance to engage in vigorous exercise and the demands of everyday life. All this comes about when your appetite and the foods you eat; how and when you eat; the medicines you take; your digestion and metabolism; the nature of your environment; and your physical activity, mind, and emotions are in harmony." *(Eating Wisely by Niika Quistgard in Yoga Journal February 2009)
